Kenneth grew up in Iowa, Missouri, and in Idaho. His parents eventually settled in Mtn. Grove, where Kenneth completed eighth grade before going to work to help his family. As a result, he put great value in education and encouraged his children and grandchildren to work toward a college degree.
Kenneth was a World War II Veteran. He served in the United States Army as a gunner in the Central Pacific and took part in three major invasions.
Following his discharge and his return to Mtn. Grove, Kenneth married Mary Elizabeth Pollock.

Kenneth and Jean enjoyed living in Homestead until they met hurricane Andrew. They then moved north to Sebring, Florida. They lived there until Jean’s death in 1998.
In 2000, Kenneth moved back to Mtn. Grove, which he considered his home. He lived in Mtn. Grove until 2008 and then moved to the Landmark Villa in Cabool, Missouri.
Kenneth was a lifetime member of the VFW Post in Cabool, an American Legion Post 30 member in Mtn. Grove and a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church. He also belonged to the Rural Mail Carrier’s Association. He served each organization in various offices and also served as a Mtn. Grove City Councilman.
Kenneth was an animal lover and trained Beagles and English Setters. He enjoyed hunting and also judged Beagle field trials. Later in life, he enjoyed building and shooting Black Powder weapons.
His other interests were coin collecting, woodworking, and growing tomatoes which he generously shared. His goal each year was to have a ripe tomato before July 1st. His favorite activity was fishing with his nephew, Larry and later with his grandchildren.
