Kathryn Clark daughter of the late Alger Carson and Clara Leona (Shain) Ayers, was born on November 17, 1913 in Jefferson, Iowa, and departed this life on September 29, 2007 in the Table Rock Healthcare Center in Kimberling City, Missouri, at 93 years of age.
Kathryn grew up in several farming communities in Greene County, Iowa. She graduated from Jefferson High School in 1931. She later graduated from Iowa State Teacher’s College and taught in one room schools in Greene County. She was united in marriage to Harry Clark on August 15, 1942 in Perry, Iowa. Two sons were born to this union. Kathryn enjoyed farm life, and tending to her flower and vegetable gardens. She also enjoyed selling Avon in her spare time. She worked as a nurse’s aid for many years in Iowa and Missouri and later she worked as an in-home care nurse. Kathryn was a nice person who enjoyed visiting with her many friends and family. She also enjoyed taking weekly trips on the Oats bus and playing bingo with other residents of the home.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Harry Clark on October 22, 1995. She is survived by her two sons: Alan Clark of New Franklin, Missouri, and Lyle Clark and his wife, Linda, of Urbandale, Iowa; three grandchildren: Bryan, Christina, and Heather; four step-grandchildren: James, Andy, Amy, and Sam; four great-grandchildren: Casey, Christian, Dalton, and Jordon; and many other relatives and friends who will sadly miss her.
Funeral services for Kathryn Clark were held Thursday, October 4, 2007, 2:00 Pm in the Craig-Hurtt Chapel with Rev. Art Ellsworth officiating. Song selections were “Old Rugged Cross,” “Amazing Grace,” and “Go Rest High On That Mountain.” Burial will be at a later date. Arrangements were under the direction of the Craig-Hurtt Funeral Home, Mtn. Grove, Missouri.
