Katharine “Sue” Watson was born November 29, 1944, in Springfield, Missouri, to John “Red” Butts and Bonnie Ward Butts.
Sue, as she liked to be called, was the oldest of five children. She grew up surrounded by her family and extended family of cousins, aunts, and uncles.
She married Jim Watson, on May 31, 1963, and they had one son, Jeff. They moved to Fordland, Missouri, in 1971, where they spent many happy years together as a family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Rick, and by her husband of 47 years, Jimmy.
Sue is survived by her son, Jeff and his wife, Stephannie, of Fordland, Missouri, her adored granddaughter, Ashley Watson of Sparta, Missouri, her beloved sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Jim Wiggins of Ozark, Missouri, and by her lifelong friend and sister-in-law Vicky Woolery of Rogersville, Missouri, along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Sue was truly a one of a kind person. She never met a stranger and had a smile that lit up a room. She was, to use her own words, “goofy and silly”. Sue enjoyed traveling, being outside working in her flower gardens, yard work, filling her home with “silly stuff” that she purchased at garage and estate sales, crafts, painting, anything creative, loved riding horses and loved animals.
Sue loved life and faced it with amazing courage. She also loved
people, and will be missed by everyone who knew her.
The family would also like to express their gratitude to the entire staff at Glenwood Healthcare for the love, compassion and care they gave Sue over the last two and a half years of her life.
