Katherine 'Kate' Arlene Proctor

Katherine “Kate” Proctor, 67, of Mountain Grove, Missouri passed away in her home Saturday, January 14, 2012 surrounded by her family. Kate was born the second of nine children on February 11, 1944 to the late Henry and Lois Newberry. She grew up and attended school in the Mountain Grove area.

Kate was united in marriage to Lyman “Pete” Proctor on September 25, 1965 in Mountain Grove, Missouri on the Doc Denney place, where she lived. They lived in Cottonwood Falls, Kansas and Herington, Kansas until 1972 when they moved back to Mountain Grove and have remained there ever since. Two children were born to this union; Tonya Tooley of Mountain Grove, Missouri and Bryan Proctor of Newport News, Virginia.

Kate babysat many children and enjoyed every minute. She loved every one of the kids and had a tremendous impact on each of their lives. She treated them as if they were her own.

Kate loved quilting, crocheting, and sewing and had made many beautiful things. She put a lot of love into everything she made. She also enjoyed going to the Auction in Versailles, Missouri with her brothers and sisters. She really enjoyed those times with her siblings and looked forward to going every month.

Kate was always there for her children and anyone else who needed her. Nothing brought her more pleasure than when she was together with her brothers and sisters, her children, her grandchildren, and other family members. She enjoyed cooking for everyone when they would get together.

Kate was proud of her husband who served in the Army, Bryan who is still serving in the Air Force, Lee for serving in the Marines and Jamie who served in the Air Force.

Besides her parents, Kate was preceded in death by her father-in-law: Vasel Proctor; a niece: Angie Mallow; and an infant grandson: Kyle Tooley.

She is survived by her husband: Lyman “Pete” Proctor; daughter: Tonya Tooley and her husband, James; son: Bryan and his wife, Jamie; son: Lee Parker and his wife, Kim; grandchildren: Jordan, Emmalee, Rayna, Tristan, Laney, Tyler and Holly; five brothers: Don and JoAnn Newberry, Bob and Sherri Newberry, Ray and Carolyn Newberry, Jesse and Linda Newberry, Wayne and Traci Newberry; and three sisters: Connie and Bill Klund, Diana and Mike Creiger, and Dana Robertson; mother-in-law: Ruby Proctor; sister-in-law: Barbara Cooper and her husband, Darrell; two brothers-in-law; Frank Proctor and his wife, Freda, and Gary Proctor and his wife, Christy; and many loving nieces and nephews and family members that will miss her very much.

January 17th at 10:00 AM in
the Craig-Hurtt Chapel.


Visitation: Monday, January

16th from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM
in the funeral home.
