Junior E. Millsap

October 23, 1927 — September 26, 2014

Junior Elice Millsap, son of the late Samp and Myrtle Millsap, began his life on October 23, 1927 in Mansfield, Missouri. Surrounded by loving family, he went home to be with the Lord for eternity on September 26, 2014.

Junior grew up in Mansfield, where he met the love of his life, Evelyn Moles. Junior began his career with MoDOT in February 1950. Two years later, in 1952, Junior was drafted into the U.S. Army for a two year term. After Boot Camp, he was assigned to Ft Bliss, Texas as a heavy artillery instructor for the Korean War effort. On November 22, 1952, in Las Cruses, New Mexico, Junior and Evelyn began their journey of a 62 year marriage.

After completing his military service, they moved to a small farm near Mtn. Grove where Junior resumed his career with MoDOT that lasted for 40 years. During that time, he and Evelyn also raised milk and beef cattle and 3 children who adored and respected him greatly.

In 1988, as Highway Maintenance Foreman, Junior decided to retire and enjoy some of the fruits of his labor. He had a passion for lake fishing, quail, turkey, and deer hunting and seldom turned down a day at any of the local cattle auctions. Unfortunately, Macular Eye Degeneration robbed him of his eye sight and the freedom to enjoy retirement, as he had hoped for. Junior greatly appreciated those who aided him through this disability.

Junior was a man who lived his Faith and was a devoted member of the Willow Springs Free Will Baptist Church for many years. He had a great sense of humor and was generous in giving to others. Young people enjoyed Juniors company, treats, and his heartfelt words of wisdom. Treasured friends, neighbors and beloved family members brought great joy to Juniors life. He appreciated and was thankful for them and always tried to let them know.

Besides his parents, Junior was preceded in death by three brothers: Earnie Millsap, Willis Cobb Millsap, and Willard Millsap; and three sisters: Vernie Jones, Marine Crawford, and Maxine Cantrell.

He is survived by his loving wife of their home: Evelyn (Moles) Millsap; two sons: Steve Millsap and his wife, Hala, of Haslet, Texas, and Larry Millsap and his wife, Terri, of Norwood, Missouri; one daughter: Teresa Kemper and her husband, Todd, of Little Rock, Arkansas; six grandchildren: Joshua Millsap, Sarah Millsap, Michael Millsap, Tiffany Gulledge, Kristan Francis, and Lucas Kemper; thirteen great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law: Avenail Jones of Macomb, Missouri; many special nieces and nephews; and a host of other family, neighbors, and friends who will miss him dearly.
