Julie Newby

It is with a heavy heart we share with you that on Saturday, December 2nd, 2023, Julie Ann Newby passed away in the loving company of her youngest daughter Linzy, in Mansfield Missouri. Julie was born on October 28th, 1967, and had just celebrated her 56th birthday. She was preceded in death by her father Don Newby. Julie was survived by her mother Martha Newby, her sisters Tracy Smith, Kris Newby, her eldest daughter Ariel, youngest daughter Linzy, and her granddaughters Addilynn, Audrey, and Emmy. She had one nephew, Justin Smith, and two nieces Kelsie Gibson and Lacie Cruz.

Growing up Julie was an avid lover of agriculture and heavily involved in the FFA. She shared her fond memories and stories quite often of her time in the FFA. This love of agriculture also earned her the title of “plant lady” or “green thumb”, anyone who knew her knew that she loved her plants. She had such a wide variety constantly surrounding her inside and outside of her home, she made it a yearly tradition to visit Adna Floral on opening day, she bonded over her plants with her sisters and even created a passion for plants in her eldest granddaughter Addilynn.

Julie was incredibly crafty in so many areas, like cross-stitch and painting ceramics. She loved creating beautiful scenes with her cross-stitch, and supporting a local ceramics shop was one of her favorite past times. Over the years she has gathered and painted so many ceramics for every season, she was planning on painting ceramics for Easter with her youngest daughter to pass on the tradition. Another hobby she passed onto her children was her love for puzzles, she would get all kinds of jigsaw puzzles and take pictures of them completed. Julie also loved to read and listen to her 80’s music. Julie was a huge fan of cheesy sci-fi movies, while her children were growing up she often watched with her daughters making these cheesy films a core memory and more recently introduced them to her granddaughters.

Beyond all of her hobbies and likes, Julie was an incredible person. Her infectious laugh was not one you would forget, it always made those around her smile. Julie would give the shirt off her back to her loved ones, and her caring spirit never went unnoticed. She loved her family more than words could explain, she liked to show it by always bringing her beloved sugar cookies to all of our events. Julie was the kind of person everyone wanted to share their news with, no matter how big or how small she would make it seem like the greatest thing in the world.

Julie was Martha Newby’s first born, she showed Martha the joys of being a parent and throughout life that never changed. Julie cared for her parents deeply. She shared an unconditional love with her mother. They found comfort in communicating often and making time to see each other. They often had long phone calls just sharing about their everyday lives, they had shopping trips, and were always going out for breakfast. They always found the time to stay connected and show each other their love through everything.

See no evil, Hear no evil, Speak no evil. These accurately describe the three Newby girls. Their bond was incomparable. They were more than just sisters, they were each other's closest friends. Julie fiercely protected her sisters and loved them with the same passion. Tracy and Julie shared motherhood together. They brought their children together and showed them what it meant to be a Newby. Through life’s trials and celebrations Tracy never wasted a second in being there and Julie loved and appreciated her time and memories made with Tracy. She was always looking out for her younger sister Kris, and Kris was always looking out for her. They were each other’s protectors. The times shared with Kris meant the world to Julie. These sisters could do anything together, they shopped together, were plant ladies together, laughed together, whatever it was they could have fun. No matter where or what they were going through, without ANY doubt they were there for each other without judgment. They only gave support and protective love.

Julie was an incredible mother to her two daughters, Ariel and Linzy. Throughout their lives she was a pillar of strength, a place of comfort, and a constant source of encouragement. She was the kind of mother who came to every event, every game,

everything and anything to show her love and support to her two daughters. When both Ariel and Linzy went to camp she wrote postcards for everyday they were gone reminding them how much she loved them. If she ever could not make an event she always made sure someone was there supporting us. Julie never missed a chance to show her girls how much they meant to her, and it never went unnoticed. This did not stop when her girls hit adulthood, she loved us through every heartache, supported us in every milestone, and was never more than a phone call away. Julie was the person her girls called for questions, for guidance, and for reassurance. Julie was the best mother through every chapter of their daughters' lives.

Julie was also an indescribable grandmother. The same characteristics she showed as a mother, she gave to her grandchildren. With her eldest granddaughter Addilynn Julie was at every event small or big supporting her, she made sure to spend time with her and bond over their shared interests and hobbies, she comforted Addilynn and helped her grow. More recently she moved to Missouri and got to share those same things with her younger grandchildren Audrey and Emmy. She was able to spend time loving them, bonding with them, and be a part of their everyday lives as they grew. Something that lit her face up every time she got the chance to talk about it.  

Julie started her life in a slow-paced lifestyle surrounded by love, and she was so happy to be making her way back to the slow, peaceful living out in Missouri. Julie was a special soul and touched so many lives. Although she got called home early, she is at peace with her father now watching over all the loved ones she left behind. The memories she created, the laughter and joy she shared, and the meaning of love she gave can never be replaced or forgotten.
