Judy Lawson

February 1, 1957 — February 9, 2022

Judy Anne Lawson came into this world in Kansas City, Missouri, on February 1, 1957, and spent every day after that leaving an indelible mark on the world and those whom she held dear. She enjoyed a long and distinguished professional career in the telecommunications industry, and before her passing, was an active volunteer in her church and in North Kansas City, Missouri. In addition, Judy was exceptionally proud of her "Panther" family as a Mountain Grove High School graduate. While she moved to the city decades ago, her status as a "Dawson Girl" was treasured and celebrated with regular reunion lunches involving cousins and dear friends from childhood.

Her steadfast Christian faith served as a moral compass and her basis for determining right and wrong from early childhood. Her faith was applied and was always much more than simple words. She was always ready to assist as almost anyone needed anything. Nothing too big or small, simply say the word, and the work would begin. She either knew how to help, knew someone who would provide the help, or research and find the solution. She was ready to advocate for others and direct anyone in need of direction from her first word. As she asked if you "liked that soap?" you could rest assured that a dozen homemade bars would follow if you provided a yes! If she found a boutique hot sauce that a nephew liked. Why provide a bottle when she could provide a box full? Judy was a giver and sharing those gifts that she made or found in some obscure corner was indeed her love language.

While a "giver," Judy was also a tireless warrior! No one ever questioned her loyalty to her family, friends, and causes. Those who knew her best knew she was a force! Rest assured, not all the gifts were "gift wrapped!" One never needed to seek clarity on her opinions because they were always clearly stated with no wiggle room. And those opinions were never negotiable!

Judy passed from this earth in February 2022 at her home in Kansas City, Missouri. She was preceded in death by her brothers Timothy, Thomas, and Steven. She leaves behind a multitude of friends, her parents Jimmy and Dona Lawson of Mountain Grove, Missouri; her brother Ron and wife Beth of Ozark, Missouri; her brother Dan and his wife Karen of Cleveland, Tennessee; nieces Heather Bean, Chandler Lawson Flynn, Justine Lawson, Jessica Lakey - nephews Matthew Lawson, Miles Lawson and Dakota Merrill - Great-nieces, Maddie, Heaven, Memphis, great-nephews Jacob, Luke, Carter, Oliver, Brantley, and her craft buddy and great-nephew Peyton, who was always the absolute apple of her eye.

Speaking for Judy (which no one did in sixty-five years), Judy's friends and family invite you to embrace a living faith in our Creator and give your faith action by service to others. The family loved her and will tremendously miss her, but joyfully celebrates her life and looks forward to being reunited in the resurrection!
