Judy Kay Boykin, daughter of the late Robert and Orva (Conley) Orwick, was born on June 7, 1957 in Springfield, Missouri, and departed this life on October 11, 2011 in the St. John’s Regional Health Center in Springfield, Missouri, following a long illness. She was 54 years, 4 months and 4 days of age.
Judy grew up and attended school in Dora, Missouri. She was united in marriage to Glen Boykin on August 23, 1978 in Norwood, Missouri. One daughter, Jennifer, was born to this union. They made their home in Norwood and were married for thirty-three years.
Judy was employed at the Brown Shoe Company in Mtn. Grove for a few years and later she worked for the Union Gas Company. Glen and Judy owned and operated a propane business in Norwood, Glen’s Propane, which they ran for several years before selling and opening a hardware store beside Glen’s Propane Company.
Judy was a loving and caring daughter, wife, mother, sister, friend and neighbor. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her daughter, Jennifer, and her dogs. She will be truly missed by those who knew and loved her.
Judy also liked to do oil painting, traveling, shopping in Branson, and spending time on their farm.
Judy was saved and baptized at an early age and became a member of the Dora Assembly of God Church. She was a longtime member of the Norwood Assembly of God Church and enjoyed attending services and activities as long as her health permitted.
She was also a past President of Norwood Betterment Club and a member of the LP Gas Association.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her twin infant brother: Johnnie Ray Orwick.
She is survived by her husband: Glen Boykin of their home; her daughter: Jennifer Boykin of Norwood, Missouri; one sister: Annabell Grisham and her husband, Lexie, of Mtn. Grove, Missouri; a brother-in-law and his wife: Lee and Carol Boykin of Cabool, Missouri; three sisters-in-law and their husbands: Wanda and Darrell Snyder of Plato, Missouri, Diane and Johnny Dawson of Mtn. Grove, Missouri and Betty Richardson of Moore, Oklahoma; several nieces; nephews; great-nieces and great-nephews; her dogs and companions: Buttons and Bunny; and her granddog: Punky: and a host of friends, family, church family, neighbors.
Funeral Service: Saturday, October 15th at 10:00 AM in the Norwood Assembly of God Church.
Visitation: Friday, October 14th from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM in the funeral home.
Burial: Thomas Cemetery
Memorial Contributions: Wright County Children’s Home or American Cancer Society c/o the funeral home.
