Joy Lee Wood, daughter of the late Thomas Jefferson and Lena Opal (Fudge) Shell, was born June 27, 1944, in Salem, Arkansas, and passed away November 19, 2020, at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Missouri. She was 76 years, 4 months, and 23 days of age.
Joy graduated high school with the Salem, Arkansas, class of 1962. She married Max Wood on September 27, 1963, in Salem. Two children were born to this union.
Joy worked most of her career in banking as a bookkeeper. She retired from Town and Country Bank in Mountain Grove, Missouri, on April 25, 2014.
After retirement, Joy became a world traveler and visited many places with her sister and her nieces. She was a big Elvis Presley fan and a huge St. Louis Cardinals fan. Joy was very strong in her faith. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Mountain Grove where she attended as long as her health permitted. She loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren very much and greatly enjoyed time spent with them.
Besides her parents, Joy was preceded in death by one sister, Charlene Collins.
She is survived by her husband of their home in Mountain Grove, Missouri, Max Wood, one son, Sean Wood and his wife, Angie, of O’Fallon, Missouri, one daughter, Cydney Seabaugh and her husband, Jason, of Perryville, Missouri, one sister, Jo Maguffee of Arcadia, Missouri, five grandchildren, Taylor, Andrew, Gracie, Kali, and Jordan whom they raised as their own, three great-grandchildren, Chase, Hudson, and Marlow, and many other relatives and friends who will miss her dearly.
