Josephine C. Maness

July 1, 1925 — March 18, 2010

Josephine Claire Maness, daughter of the late Howard and Velma (Schafer) Fetterman, was born on July 1, 1925 in Ehrenfeld, Pennsylvania, and departed this life on March 18, 2010 in the Autumn Oaks Caring Center in Mtn. Grove, Missouri following a long illness. She was 84 years, 8 months and 17 days of age.


Josephine grew up and attended school in Pennsylvania. She was united in marriage to Charles Maness on July 20, 1945. Four children were born to this union. She enjoyed quilting, gardening and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.


Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband; Charles N. Maness on April 18, 1992; two brothers: Bill Fetterman and Howard Fetterman; two sisters: Doris Penrod and Geraldine Koloski; two half sisters: Rita Stephens and Carol Christensen; and by a great-granddaughter; Emma Josephine Sparks.


She is survived by two sons: Charles Maness of the State of Arkansas, and Howard Maness of Cuba, Missouri; two daughters: Eunice Sparks and her husband, Sam, of Mtn. Grove, and Susan Vincent of Houston, Texas; three half-brothers: Richard Bopp, Eugene Bopp, and Ken Bopp; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends who will sadly miss her.
