Jonathan J. Roth

June 3, 1946 — November 20, 2016

Jonathan Joel Roth, son of the late Harrison Thomas and Genevieve Suzannah (Grubb) Roth, was born on June 3, 1946, in Reading, Pennsylvania and departed this life at Mercy hospital on November 20, 2016. He was 70 years, 5 months and 17 days of age.

Jonathan lived just outside Reading, Pennsylvania until 10 years of age. His family moved to Mountain Grove, Missouri, in 1957. He graduated from Mountain Grove High School in 1964. He was united in marriage to Mary Sue Baden on October 19, 1968 in Parkville, Missouri. Two children were born to this union. They lived in the Kansas City area until 1981. They then moved back to Mountain Grove for Jonathan to work on the family dairy farm.

Jonathan enjoyed spending time outdoors hunting and tinkering with his 57 Chevy and tractor. He was a member of the Older Iron Club and liked to show off his Ford Dexta. He spent time attending truck pulls with his brother, Nathan, and a close friend, Hubert.

Jonathan was a member of First Baptist Church in Mountain Grove. He attended game day on Tuesdays with church family and spent time with the Harvesters group. He loved the Lord, and before his death wanted his family to know how important it was to be saved.

Jonathan was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Susan Sanders; and a brother, Tim Roth. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Mary Sue; daughter, Cheryl Edquist and her husband, Eric; son, JC and his wife, Kena; four grandchildren: Elias and Hala Edquist and Tucker and Heston Roth; brother, Nathan Roth and Jan; brother, Andy Roth and wife, Libby; brother-in-law, Lars Sanders; sister-in-law, Liz Roth-Verkler and husband, Ron; sister-in-law, Beverly Roth; sister-in-law, Carolyn Gaynor, and a host of nieces and nephews.
