Johnny Gale Spiva, son of the late John Dale and Edna Belle (Cantrell) Spiva, was born March 1, 1952, in Bentonville, Arkansas, and passed away peacefully on June 6, 2020, at his home in Mountain Grove, Missouri. He was 68 years, 3 months, and 5 days of age.
Johnny grew up in Norwood, Missouri, and graduated with the Norwood High School class of 1971. He enlisted in the United States Marines July 1, 1971, and was honorably discharged June 29, 1973, serving his country during the Vietnam War. Later, in 1973, he began working for Burlington Northern Railroad and remained there until retiring after 29 years.
Johnny had three children with his first marriage, Hillary, Corey, and Jacob. He enjoyed fishing, traveling, telling stories, but most of all, spending time with family and friends.
Besides his parents, Johnny was preceded in death by one son, Corey Spiva, one brother, Max Conner, and one sister, Marjorie Sympson.
Johnny is survived by his long-time companion, Regina Helums of the home, one son, Jacob Spiva of Springfield, Missouri, one daughter, Hillary Mumaw and husband, Tim, of Mountain Grove, one bonus daughter, Mindy Russell and husband, Kurt, of Norwood, two brothers, Larry Conner and wife, Shirley, of Clever, Missouri, and Emmett Spiva and wife, Shirley, of Springfield, Missouri, one sister, Linda Davis of Norwood, four grandchildren, Destiny, Lane, Emily, and Hazel, two great-grandchildren, Bailee and Brynlee, and many other relatives and friends. Johnny will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
