Johnathan Blaine Maxwell Atkisson was born September 30, 1977 in Fairbanks, Alaska, and departed this life July 4, 2017 in Mountain Grove, Missouri, at 39 years of age.
Growing up in Alaska, Johnathan’s childhood summers were spent canoeing, swimming, fishing and riding bikes while the winter meant sledding, building snow forts with his brothers and board games when it was too cold to play outside. He began snowboarding in his early teens and also developed a fierce love of music, playing bass guitar and starting a garage band with his younger brother. His parents inspired his interest in cooking and you could find him helping out every year at the family’s Tanana Valley State Fair food booth, the Cajun Connection. His love of cooking led to him becoming an accomplished gardener, growing a variety of vegetables in his home garden. Of all the things Johnathan loved in his life none could compare to his family. Throughout the many hardships of his journey there was never a question of the intense and undying love he held for his three daughters, Tamara, Isabella, and Hannah.
Johnathan was preceded in death by his father, James Michael Atkisson, Sr.
He is survived by his mother, Glenda Atkisson of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, three daughters, Tamara Atkisson of Phoenix, Arizona, Isabella Atkisson of Copemish, Michigan, and Hannah Atkisson of Copemish, Michigan, two brothers, James Michael Atkisson, Jr. of Surprise, Arizona and Jeremiah Keith Atkisson of San Francisco, California, one sister, Jamie Atkisson of Phoenix, Arizona, one grandson, Christian Kenneth Atkisson of Phoenix, Arizona, and many other relatives and friends who will greatly miss him.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be made to an addiction rehabilitation center of your choosing in memory of Johnathan.
