John Edward Turner, 59, son of Teddy Wade and Evelyn Gee (Beauman) Turner, was born on May 30, 1962, at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, Missouri, and departed from this Earth at 8:21 p.m. on July 19, 2021, at Mercy Hospital with his family by his side. He fought a courageous battle with COVID and was completely healed, entering the kingdom of Heaven. He was baptized on May 14, 1972, and rededicated his life to the Lord as an adult.
He grew up as a military child spending many years at different bases around the world. He attended Kindergarten through 2nd grade in Germany, 3rd and 4th in Springfield, Missouri, and the rest of his school years in San Antonio, Texas. He graduated from Robert G. Cole High School in San Antonio in 1980. He thoroughly enjoyed playing sports, particularly baseball. He was an excellent left-handed pitcher.
John moved to Mountain Grove, Missouri, in 1988. He was united in marriage to Trena Jo Bennett on January 27, 1990. To this union four children were born, Kyla, Katie, Kourtney, and Colton. John milked cows on his dairy farm until 2008 and continued raising beef cows until his passing. John attended Gunsmithing school at Colorado School of Trades in 2001. If you couldn’t find him farming or fixing guns, he was helping out a neighbor. He also loved hunting, fishing and spending time with his family and grandkids.
He is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Trena Turner, his children, Kyla Day, husband, Jonathan, Katie Kicklighter, husband, Aaron, Kourtney Turner, and Colton Turner; grandchildren, Maelyn, Liam, Silas, Audrey, Emmett, and Charlie; his mother, Evelyn Turner, sister, Teri Utter, husband, Bob, and brother, Brian Turner, wife, Alycia, his mother-in-law, Donna Bennett, sisters-in-law, Elaina Prewett and Kristy Raschko, and brothers-in-law, Gorman Bennett and wife, Sharon, and Brent Bennett and wife, Trish, along with many other relatives and friends that loved him dearly. He was preceded in death by his father, Ted Turner, father-in-law, Bobby Bennett, brother-in-law, Curtis Prewett, along with his grandparents.
