John William Mingus, son of the late John Pose and Leota Lois (Keeler) Mingus, was born December 16, 1941, in Wright County, Missouri. He departed this life November 13, 2024, at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Missouri. He was 82 years of age.
John grew up near Marshfield, Missouri, and attended a one room schoolhouse through the ninth grade. He then attended and graduated from Marshfield High School.
He was inducted into the United States Navy on January 6, 1961, and proudly served his country until he was honorably discharged on November 12, 1964.
John was united in marriage to Glenda Denney on August 22, 1963, in Seymour, Missouri. Two children, Johnny Alan and Amanda Jo, were born to this union.
John was a beef farmer for many years, and he also worked for and retired from Dayco Products in Springfield, Missouri. In his spare time, he liked to garden, fish, and watch westerns. John also enjoyed baseball and football and was a big fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and Kansas City Chiefs.
John was a devoted family man and loved his wife, children, and grandchildren very much. There was nothing he loved more than spending time with his family.
Besides his parents, John was preceded in death by one sister, Mary Vaughn and one great-grandson, Nolan Ryan Alexander.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Glenda Mingus; one son, Johnny Alan Mingus; one daughter, Amanda Jo Helms and her husband, Doug; two grandchildren, Tiffany Myers and her husband, Cody, and Braythan Alexander and her husband, Aaron; five great-grandchildren, Brycen Owens, John Carter Owens, Isabella Owens, Isabella Myers, and Laney Myers; two brothers, Jack Mingus and his wife, Marilyn, and Jim Mingus and his wife, Penny; and a host of other family and friends who will miss him very much.
