This obituary is to honor the memory of my husband: Jack Kratochvil. He passed from death to eternal life on Saturday, July 26, 2008 in his home surrounded by his loving family.
Jack was born to Eugene and Amanda Kratochvil on August 10, 1935 in Merrill, Wisconsin. He was named John Eugene but has always been called Jack. He was raised as an only child in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
When he was 16, his father passed away. He and his mother then moved back to Merrill where Jack graduated from high school in 1954.
That summer, Jack enlisted in the United States Marines and for two years he was a part of the first frogman team for the Underwater Demolition Unit.
After active duty, Jack went back to school to earn a Bachelors of Science degree. He then pursued a career in computers. He went on to earn a Master of Finance degree which led him to becoming a systems analyst and computer consultant.
Jack was married twice. He has four children with his first wife: Joan. They are Eugene, 47; Peter, 45; Jill, 42, and Susan, 39.
I am Tana, his second wife of thirty-one years. We celebrated our anniversary on July 9. We have six children: Tanner, 28; Tangerine, 25; Toby, 22; Tessa, 18; Treasure, 15; and Robin, 13. Our married life took us from Iowa to Alabama, Mississippi, New Orleans, Wisconsin and now here in Missouri.
Jack had many loves and interests in his life. His first love was the Lord Jesus Christ. He was born again twenty-six years ago. He loved to tell people about Jesus and His saving grace. Jack loved all ten of his children very much. Woodworking and the Green Bay Packers were two big interests in his life and the “great outdoors” was his playground.
Cancer was the big battle in his life with the victory belonging to God. Jack has obtained Heaven.
Two of his favorite Bible verses were 1 Thessalonians 5:18, “In everything give thanks for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you” and John 14:6, “I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh to the Father but by me.” Jack’s favorite saying was, “It will either make you bitter or better.”
Jack will be greatly missed by all. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by me, the wife of the home; his ten children; eight grandchildren: Gregory, Mary Jo, Logan, Chance, Carson, Andrea, Briar, and Meagan; and two special brothers-in-law: Andy and Denny Roff.
We want to thank the Community Hospice and Liberty Faith Church family for their loving care, and Dr. Doyle Hill and Dr. Joel Robbins of Tulsa, Oklahoma.
