John “Buck” Edward Dawson, was born July 30, 1973, in Mountain Grove, Missouri, to Johnny Paul and Diana Lynn (Boykin) Dawson, and passed away May 26, 2021, at University Hospital in Columbia, Missouri, surrounded by his wife and sons. He was 47 years, 9 months, and 27 days of age.
Buck was united in marriage to Billie Morton on September 6, 1994, in Norwood, Missouri. Three sons were born to this union, Dustin, Preston, and Weston.
Buck worked in saw mills, steel plants, auto mechanics, and home remodeling throughout his life. In his free time, he enjoyed camping, fishing, gardening (especially tomatoes), watching the birds, and anything outdoors.
Buck had a contagious smile and you could always count on him to crack a joke, sometimes in the middle of church. Even through all of his life trials, struggles, and pain, he never quit smiling; and he never lost his faith in God. He was always there to lend a helping hand however he could, even if that meant supervising.
He was a Godly man, not because he attended church regularly, but because he lived the life of a true, spirit-filled believer. He knew that he served an almighty God that was bigger than anything he had to go through. Buck attended Open Door Fellowship in Dunn, MO and had his own healing ministry, in which God used him to touch many lives and heal even more.
Buck was a supporter, encourager, and an inspiration to all who knew him. His faith was unwavering all the way to the end. His love for people was apparent, but his love for Christ, that was undeniable. His life here on earth was truly a miracle and his story will continue to touch more lives.
Buck was preceded in death by his grandparents, Roy and Marie Boykin, and John and Dorris “Sally” Dawson, and two uncles, Richard Dawson and Lee Boykin.
He is survived by his wife, Billie Dawson of their home in Mountain Grove, Missouri, three sons, Dustin Dawson and his fiancée, Kenzi, of Springfield, Missouri, Preston Dawson of Springfield, Missouri, and Weston Dawson of Mountain Grove, Missouri, his parents, Johnny Paul and Diana Dawson of Mountain Grove, Missouri, one brother, Rickey Dawson and his wife, Jessica, of Mountain Grove, Missouri, one sister, Deanna Helums and her husband, Jamie, of Norwood, Missouri, and many other extended family and friends who will miss him.
