Joseph F. Stepp, son of the late Fred and Lela (Hennessee) Stepp, was born on December 8, 1938 in Los Angeles, California, and departed this life on December 1, 2007, at 68 years of age.
Joe lived in Los Angeles until the age of eight when he moved to Missouri to their home place in Texas County, Missouri. He attended Union Elementary and graduated from Houston High School in 1956. He received an Athletic Scholarship to play football at SMS. Joe was always involved with education, from the one room school to being principal and school superintendent and on to being a college professor.
He was united in marriage to Virginia Coble on May 24, 1958 in Texas County, Missouri. One son was born to this union.
Joe was saved at the age of eight and was always active in church. He was a member of the Assembly of God Church and enjoyed attending services and visiting with his many friends.
He enjoyed being outdoors, especially when fishing. He also liked reading, painting, and attending his granddaughter’s events.
Joe was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, friend, and neighbor. He will be truly missed by those who knew and loved him.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister: Alice Collins. He is survived by his loving wife of forty-nine years: Virginia Stepp of their home; his son and daughter-in-law: David and Debbie Stepp of Wynne, Arkansas; two granddaughters: Jessica and Jodi Stepp; his church family; and other relatives and friends.

Tuesday, December 4, 2007 at 2:00 PM in the Craig-Hurtt Chapel.
Visitation:
Monday, December 3, 2007 from 7:00 - 8:00 PM at the Craig-Hurtt Chapel.
