Beloved mom, grandma, great-grandma, sister, aunt and friend, Joan Rowe Fox peacefully departed this life with family at her side in the twilight hours of September 12, 2021. She had been a much-loved resident at Glenwood Healthcare in Seymour and was 84 years wise at the time of her passing.
One of three children, she was born Joan Helen Johnson on March 26, 1937, in Fort Macleod, Alberta, Canada, to Helmer and Isabel (Hutton) Johnson. The Johnsons soon moved to Noxon, Montana, a tiny village with a population of less than 350, located 12 miles from the Idaho border. Joan attended Noxon schools and graduated from Noxon High School in 1955.
Joan married classmate Reuben Rowe and together they had three children. In 1962, the family purchased and moved to farmland in rural Seymour, Missouri.
Joan worked at H.D. Lee in Seymour nearly ten years while raising her children. She then moved to Lebanon, Missouri, where her warm personality lent itself to jobs working with the public. Fifteen years later, she moved back to the Seymour area to be near family and started working at The Seymour Bank. Joan retired at the age of 72 after close to sixteen years in building janitorial maintenance. In 2009, Joan wed Jim Fox. They enjoyed traveling and shared many happy years together.
Joan was an excellent seamstress, a great cook, an avid reader, and a meticulous housekeeper. She was a hard worker and very determined. She was a ‘fixer’ and could fix anything, not stopping until she was successful. She could do anything she set her mind to.
Joan had accepted Christ later in her life. She had a huge heart and was always helping others, but her greatest joy was her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Joan loved preparing meals for her family and playing games with them.
In addition to her parents, Joan’s sister Doreen Minnick, also preceded her in death.
Those left behind to cherish memories are her two sons, Ron Rowe and wife Jamie, of Poynett, Wisconsin, and Fred Rowe and wife Barbara, of Spring Hill, Kansas, and her daughter Lissa Fox and husband Gregg, of Seymour. Joan was the adored grandma of Emily Rowe of Madison, Wisconsin, Jason Rowe and wife Amanda, of Linwood, Kansas, Janelle Rowe of Spring Hill, Kansas, and Jessica Prewitt and husband Jeff, of Seymour, and a proud great-grandma to Michael Rowe, Quinton Rowe, Sabana Prawiro, and Cahaya Prawiro. She was a loving sister to her brother Dave Hildebrand and his wife June, of Spokane, Washington, and the dear aunt of nephews, Rick, Jeff, and Jim, and nieces, Carla, Bobbie, Colleen, and Theresa. Joan was a dear friend and neighbor to many over the years. She will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered.
