Jerry Lee Moseley was born to James Augustus Moseley and Elois Lilith (Shelby) Moseley on November 16, 1934, in Manes, Missouri. He went home to be with his Lord on February 18, 2025, at the age of 90. Jerry was an admired husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend.
Jerry attended Astoria School through eighth grade and graduated from Mountain Grove High School in 1952. He accepted Christ as his Savior at a revival at Manes Church, as a young boy. His dad and brothers, along with many others, were also saved at that time. Because it was wintertime, they were baptized in the baptistery at First Baptist Church, in Mountain Grove.
Jerry married Edna Ruth Hurley on February 27, 1957, at Southside Church in Mountain Grove. They were happily married for almost 68 years. They were blessed with three girls, of whom they were very proud: Donita, Kathy, and Lisa. Jerry was a wonderful provider and encourager for his family.
In March 1957, Jerry was drafted into the United States Army. He served as a meteorologist in Karlsruhe, Germany. Edna was able to go with him, and they enjoyed traveling and sight-seeing in Europe. They later referred to that time as their two-year honeymoon.
Following his military discharge, Jerry and Edna returned home to purchase the farm they have lived on since that time. It was there that Jerry became known for his meticulous work ethic regarding all aspects of farming. He milked cows and raised beef cattle for many years. Jerry loved land and International Harvester tractors. During many of the early farming years, he worked in the drywall business at the same time.
Jerry was an avid coon hunter, and he remembered the “best coon hunts” long after he could not remember other things. He also enjoyed riding horses in trail rides and gigging fish. Jerry was a loyal and helpful neighbor, assisting many people with building projects and farm tasks. He was devoted to Friendship Baptist Church where he faithfully served, as long as his health permitted. He was the Sunday School Superintendent many years and later taught a Sunday School Class. Jerry very much enjoyed attending Promise Keeper events with his son-in-law, David.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Jimmie Moseley and Bennie Moseley; and his sister, Patsy Moseley Wade.
Jerry leaves behind his loving wife, Edna, who has tenderly and patiently cared for him; his daughters, Donita (David) Prock, Kathy (Jeff) Talley, and Lisa (Scott) McCoy. He leaves grandchildren, Joel Prock, Lance (Becca) Talley, Bethany (Jeremy) Hyde, Erik Talley, Randi (Chris) Brown, Shelby McCoy, and Garrett McCoy. He especially enjoyed great-grandchildren, Cash Hyde, Hattie Hyde, Lottie Brown, Addison Talley, Isabelle Talley, and Judson Brown. He leaves one sister-in-law, Loeata Moseley; many nieces and nephews and dear friends. Jerry was truly loved and is missed already.
The family wishes to thank Kiana Rader for her kind care to Jerry during the past years. They are also grateful to Kabul Nursing Home for their support during recent months.
Memorial contributions may be made to The Gideons or The Alzheimer's Association in care of the funeral home.
