Jerome “Jerry” Schuster, son of Wenzel James “Jim” and Helen (Ellingson) Schuster, was born on April 11, 1935 in Bloomer, Wisconsin, and departed this life to rejoice in Heaven on November 30, 2017, in Mountain Grove, Missouri. He was 82 years, 7 months, and 26 days old.
Jerry grew up and attended school in Mondovi, Wisconsin. On December 27, 1956 he was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart, Donna Mae Davis, in Mondovi. Three children were born to this union.
Jerry completed his pastoral degree at Bethany Seminary in Chicago, Illinois in 1962. Together, Jerry and Donna embarked on a lifetime of pastoral ministry in the Church of the Brethren serving in places such as Kremlin, Montana, Rice Lake, Wisconsin, Quakertown, Pennsylvania, County Line, Pennsylvania, and Worthington, Minnesota, before moving to Mountain Grove, Missouri. At the time of his passing, Jerry was serving as pastor at the Greenwood Church of the Brethren near Mountain Grove. He had a true passion for the ministry and sharing the Gospel. An untold number of lives were touched by his ministry.
Jerry was an honest man who knew the value in a being faithful in all aspects of life. He was a trustworthy, hard worker and also served 24 years in the Mountain Grove School District. While there he could be found performing janitorial duties, carpentry, and driving buses. Jerry also worked at the Ozark Mountain Creamery for several years.
Jerry enjoyed numerous hobbies, some of which included gun collecting, gun smithing, building and repairing watches and clocks, wood working, riding his motorcycle, reading poetry, and studying the Bible.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Wenzel James and Helen Schuster and his wife, Donna Mae Schuster.
Survivors include one son, Mark Schuster and wife, Michelle, of Mansfield, Missouri, two daughters, Yvonne Erwin of Springfield, Missouri, and Roxie Schuster of Mountain Grove, three sisters, Shirley Brindle of Eau Claire, Wisconsin, Betty Schuster of Eau Claire, Wisconsin, and Darlene Burns and husband, Lyman, of Apple Valley, Minnesota, seven grandchildren, Michael Erwin, Zachary Erwin, Logan (Amanda) Schuster, Rylan Schuster, Lyndsy Schuster, Isabella Schuster, and Eden Schuster, three great-grandchildren, Conner Schuster, Damien Schuster, and Hunter Schuster, numerous nieces and nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends who will miss him greatly.
