Jean Ann Smith, daughter of the late James and Judy Smith, was born on October 2, 1957 in Sacramento, California and departed this life unexpectedly in her home in Yuma, Arizona on January 9, 2016. She was 58 years, 3 months, and 7 days of age.
At the age of twelve, Jean Ann moved with her parents to Yuma, Arizona where she graduated from Kofa High School. She was a member of Stonebridge Church where she often served as a greeter.
Jean Ann was a very kind hearted individual who was especially drawn to the welfare of animals. It was not uncommon to find her feeding feral cats, having them neutered, and adopting those that she could. She had a special affection for her dog, Dobyns. Jean Ann was also a genealogy enthusiast and was very active in searching out her family history. At the time of her death, she was the owner/manager of Showcase Lounge in Yuma.
Jean Ann was preceded in death by her parents, James and Judy.
She is survived by her paternal uncle: Jerry Smith of Mountain Grove, Missouri; and paternal aunt: Verlene Smith-Akers of Hagerstown, Maryland; her maternal uncle: Roy Rogers; and maternal aunt: Vola Nelson, both of Mountain Grove, Missouri; several cousins: and other family and friends who will greatly miss her.
Visitation: Thursday, January 28, 2016 from 1:00 - 2:00 PM in the Chapel.
Funeral Service: Thursday, January 28, 2016 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel.
Burial: Hillcrest Cemetery, Mtn. Grove, MO.
