Janice Kaye Friend, daughter of the late Ira Joe Skaggs and Nellie Warren, was born January 21, 1953 in Mountain Grove, Missouri and passed away suddenly on May 31, 2007 in her home in Cabool, Missouri. She was 54 years, 4 months, and 10 days of age.
Janice grew up and went to school in Mountain Grove. She enjoyed working on the family farm as well as working as a Certified Nurses Assistant. She loved spending time with family and friends, especially her grandkids. In her spare time, she also enjoyed crocheting afghans.
Besides her father, Janice was preceded in death by one daughter: Heather Friend.
Janice is survived by her mother and step-father: Nellie and Jay Warren; one son: Shad Friend and his wife, Ronda, of Rogersville, Missouri; one daughter: Holli Bledsoe of Mountian Grove; seven grandchildren: Bryson, Karli, Morgan, Drake, Trevor, Stevie, and Jayde; one sister: Janean Miller and her husband, Kyle, of Cabool, Missouri; two nephews; one niece; and many other family and friends.
Funeral services for Janice Friend were held Monday, June 4, 2007, 2:00 PM in the Craig-Hurtt Chapel with Rev. Junior Hutsell officiating. Ray Bradley, accompanied Teresa Perkins sang “Build My Mansion.” Song selections were “I can Only Imagine,” and “Go Rest High On That Mountain.” Pallbearers were Roland Smyer, Danny Mahurin, Eddie Atchison, Jonathan Friend, Larry Ratterree, and John Emery. Burial was in the Murr Cemetery under the direction of the Craig-Hurtt Funeral Home, Mtn. Grove, Missouri.
