Janet May Smith, 76, went home to be with our Lord on February 11, 2022. She was a lifelong resident of Fordland.
She was preceded in death by her mother Gladys, husband, R.K. Smith, brother, Denney L. Conley, Sr., sister-in-law, Sherwina, and brothers-in-law, John McCullom and David Wilkerson.
Janet is survived by a brother, Jim Conley of Thayer; sisters, Becky Koontz (Ted) of Sparta, and Betty Wilkerson of Fordland; her children, Pam Keaton (Virgil) and Connie Ballard (Billy) all of Fordland; Buddy Hamilton of Delaware, Keith Conley, and Kent Conley of Fordland; fourteen grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
She attended Greenhill grade school thru 6th grade and then Fordland High School.
Janet retired after working 42 years as Positronic Industries in Springfield. She was often seen at the “Fountain Café” talking, laughing with friends, taking orders, waiting on tables or anything that needed to be done.
Janet made a profession of faith in Christ at a young age, was baptized and a longtime member of the West Finley Baptist Church.
Memorial services will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 26, 2022, in West Finley Baptist Church with her nephew, Denney L. Conley, Jr. and Reverend Christopher Dixon officiating. Ted Koontz will be singing the musical selections.
The family is requesting in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to the West Finley Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 258 Olga Road, Fordland, Missouri, 65652.
