James “Jim” William Fox, son of John and Hallie (Williams) Fox, was born April 18, 1928, in Wessington Springs, South Dakota. He departed this life Tuesday, November 30, 2021, at the age of 93 years, 7 months, and 12 days.
On January 11, 1952, Jim was united in marriage to Julie Ann Nygaard, and to this union a son and a daughter were born.
Jim was a hard-worker and took pride in everything he did. In 1945 at age 17 he joined the United States Marine Corps; he left the Marines at age 19 and went to work on a ranch for two years in Wyoming. While he was in Wyoming he worked on a fencing crew and drove a truck delivering fencing supplies. He also worked on a pipeline in Douglas, Wyoming. At age 22 he went home for Christmas to Colman, South Dakota, where his parents had moved to. A friend, Bud Heinricy and Jim went to a dance in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and this is where Jim met Julie. After Jim and Julie were married, they moved to Cortez, Colorado, for two years and then moved back to their farm in Colman, South Dakota. In 1977, they moved to Mountain Grove, Missouri, and in 1980 to Seymour, Missouri, to a farm where they raised and sold buffalo.
Jim had made his profession of faith in God. He was a member and attended services, while his health permitted, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Mansfield, Missouri.
Jim was a quiet man, but his wit and dry sense of humor would shine through. He had useful knowledge, great wisdom, and patience.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Julie, his four sisters, and one brother.
Jim is survived by his son, Leonard Fox and his wife, Caroline, of Santa Fe, New Mexico; daughter, Anita Bohnenkamp and her husband, Wayne, of Mountain Grove, Missouri; two grandsons, Daniel Bohnenkamp and his wife, Nancy, of Mountain Grove, Missouri, Lee Bohnenkamp and his wife, Camilla, of Ava, Missouri; four great-granddaughters, Maci Bray and her husband, Nate, Belle Bohnenkamp, Myley Jones, and Mollee Bohnenkamp, two great-grandsons, Spencer Bohnenkamp and Rhett Bohnenkamp, one great-great grandson, Creed Bray and one great-great granddaughter, Wrenlee Bray.
