James “Jim” Arthur Menefee, a well known resident and farmer of Vanzant, Missouri, died in a tragic accident on November 6, 2011 in Douglas County, Missouri at the age of 59 years.
He was born at Ransom Memorial Hospital in Ottawa, Kansas on June 29, 1952 to Wilbur and Dorrene (Lee) Menefee.
Jim graduated from Paola High School in Paola, Kansas with the Class of 1970. He spent many years farming and ranching. He raised cattle, hogs, and sheep in various locations. He also spent some time with the Miami County Co-op, the Miami County Sheriff’s Department, the Crabtree Hamon Bus Company in Olathe, Kansas and various other jobs too numerous to mention. He took a job with Journagan Ranch in the late 1990’s in Missouri. He left for a couple of years and returned in 2002 where he was currently employed.
Jim served six years in the Kansas Army National Guard, where he was a member of the Battery C 2nd Battalion Artillery. He was awarded the Sharp Shooting Medal.
He entered into marriage on April 1, 2005 to Malisha Curtis Brown. They attended Faith Chapel Firewall Baptist Church in Vanzant, Missouri. Jim’s other memberships include the Kansas Law Enforcement and Missouri Hereford Association.
Jim was preceded in death by his father: Wibur Debow Menefee; and by a brother: Charles Delbert Menefee.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his loving wife: Malisha Menefee of their home; his mother: Dorrene Menefee of Paola, Kansas; one brother: Max Menefee and his wife, Michelle, of Paola, Kansas; one son: Jeffrey Menefee and his wife, Autumn, of Paola, Kansas; four daughters: Jennifer Lamb and her husband, Brian, of Houston, Texas, Jamie Ennett and her husband, Jeff, of St. Joseph, Missouri, Makesha Davis and her husband, Jon, of Springfield, Missouri, and Tiffany Dale and her husband, Justin, of Mtn. View, Missouri; eleven grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.
