James Gerald Nail

James Gerald Nail, a retired lumber and hardware store manager, son of James Grant Nail and Emma (Frisby) Nail, was born on September 26, 1917 in Fowler, Missouri and departed this life on January 7, 2008 in the Missouri Veteran’s Home in Mount Vernon, Missouri at 90 years of age.
He was a decorated World War II Combat Veteran with the United States Army in the Pacific Theater and was honorably discharged on October 31, 1945. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion and the Military Order of the Purple Heart and also a member of the Mount Vernon Christian Church.
James was united in marriage to Luella Lefler on November 14, 1942 in Ozark, Missouri. In 1948, they were blessed with one son, James Gary.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife: Luella Nail on February 22, 2000; and by one brother and five sisters.
He is survived by his son: James Gary Nail and his wife, Janet, of Springfield, Missouri; one granddaughter: Marti Louise Blaine and her husband, Ryan and great-grandsons: Spencer James Blaine and Parker Isaac Blaine, all of Liberty, Missouri; one grandson: James Gregory Nail and his wife, Elizabeth and great-grandson: James Garrett Nail, all of Springfield, Missouri; two sisters: Neva Ragsdale of Mtn. Grove, Missouri, and Nadine Wallace and her husband, Bill, of Flora, Illinois; and many relatives and numerous friends who will greatly miss him.
Graveside services for Gerald Nail were held 11:00 AM, Saturday, January 11, 2008, in the Hillcrest Cemetery with Jack Holland officiating. The Lima Team Burial Detail with Jared Moore serving as bugler provided full military honors at the cemetery. Burial was in the Hillcrest Cemetery under the direction of the Craig-Hurtt Funeral Home, Mtn. Grove, Missouri.
