James Dean McCoy, son of the late James Ezra and Lois Marie (VanDeVenter) McCoy, was born September 3, 1943, in Manes, Missouri, and departed this life August 5, 2018, at Sonshine Manor in Republic, Missouri. He was 74 years, 11 months, and 2 days of age.
Dean grew up in the Plato, Missouri community. He graduated from Plato High School in 1960 and began attending college at what was then known as SMSU. He graduated from college in 1963 and moved to St. Louis, Missouri, where he began working as a dispatcher for Road-Way trucking. He later moved to Peoria, Illinois and started driving a truck for Risinger Trucking. He continued his trucking career even moving to Danville, Illinois, and Covington and Perrysville, Indiana. While living and trucking in Indiana, Dean decided to retire. Dean moved to Springfield, Missouri, in 2013 and remained there until his passing.
Dean is survived by one son, Jay, one daughter, Deanne, one brother, Van McCoy of Springfield, Missouri, one sister, Marilee Rose Earles of Huddleston, Virginia, one aunt, Velva Loy of Albuquerque, New Mexico, two grandchildren, and several cousins and friends who will miss him.
