Jackie Ray Hicks, son of the late Pete Hicks and Bea (Hicks) Trusty, was born October 5, 1954, in Hartville, Missouri, and departed this life March 2, 2022, at his home in Hartville, Missouri. He was 67 years, 4 months, and 28 days of age.
Jack was raised in the Hartville area and attended Hartville school. He graduated from Hartville High School in 1972. After school, he started working at the cheese factory in Branson, Missouri, for a few years. He then moved back to Hartville where he worked as a farm manager for M.J. Huffman, and later worked at the sawmill for Royce Hutchison. Jack also worked for Fisher Feed, Koster Tire, and he finished his career working in the Soil and Water District of the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Due to health reasons, he retired in 2018.
Jack married Donna McIntosh on April 28, 1978, at the Church of God in Hartville, Missouri. Two sons were born to this union, Justin and Jordan.
Jack enjoyed hunting and fishing. He always had a hobby farm that usually consisted of Jersey steers, chickens, hogs, and a stock dog. Jack loved to cook, especially barbecue and fish fries. He was also a passionate gardener, and took pride in raising food for his family. He always made sure that everyone had enough to eat, and it was important to him that nobody went hungry. Jack loved his grandbabies, and he enjoyed any time he was able to spend time with his family.
Besides his parents, Jack was preceded in death by his sister, Nina Carmichael, his half-brother, Dan Eden, and his half-sister, Rose Lawson.
He is survived by his wife, Donna Hicks of their home in Hartville, Missouri, two sons, Justin Hicks and his wife, Jessica, of Hartville, Missouri, and Jordan Hicks and his wife, Sarah, of Rogersville, Missouri, three grandsons, Dakota Hicks, Riley Hicks, and Jackson Hicks, one brother, Dale Hicks and his wife, Rosalie, five sisters, Merinda Daniels, Esther Hicks, Donna Coday, Virgie Greer, and Margie Owens and her husband, Rusty, one half-brother, Andy Trusty and his wife, Carol, and many extended family and friends who will miss him.
