Iva Mae Keesling, daughter of the late Johnny A. and Amanda Jane (Brown) Williams, was born on June 19, 1910 in Wright County, Missouri and passed away on Tuesday, April 29, 2008 in the St. John’s Regional Health Center in Lebanon, Missouri at 97 years of age.
Iva grew up and attended school in Wright County and was united in marriage to Charles Keesling on October 23, 1929. Three children were born to this union. They raised their family in Laclede County and moved to the Mtn. Grove area in 1974. Mr. Keesling passed away on October 30, 1987.
Iva had lived in Springfield, Missouri and Lebanon for many years. She was saved and baptized at a young age and at the time of her passing, was a member of the First Freewill Baptist Church in Ozark, Missouri.
She was a loving and caring mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, friend and neighbor. She enjoyed cooking for her family, visiting and babysitting.
Besides her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by an infant daughter: Billie Maxine Keesling; and by five brothers.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law: Charles G. and Ellen Keesling of Lebanon, Missouri, and Jack and Charlene Keesling of Springfield, Missouri; a sister-in-law: Marie Beard of Marshfield, Missouri; three grandsons: David Keesling and his wife, Becky, Garry Allen and his wife, Robin, and Sam Allen; six granddaughters: Nancy Howell and her husband, Jim, Janet Powell, Susan Keesling, Cindy Abner, Terri Santifer and her husband, Mike, and Felicia Hargrove and her husband, Joey; eighteen great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and a host of other relatives and friends who will miss her very much.
Funeral services for Iva Keesling were held Saturday, May 3, 2:00 PM in the Craig-Hurtt Chapel with Rev. Gary Mitchener and Rev. Ronnie Alexander officiating. Greg and Kim Smith served as singers. Song selections were “I Want To Know How It Feels,” “Wish You Were Here,” “Jesus I Believe What You Said,” and “Amazing Grace.” Burial was in the Mount Rose Memorial Park, Lebanon, Missouri. Arrangements were under the direction of the Craig-Hurtt Funeral Home, Mtn. Grove, Missouri.
