Iretta Maxine Dugger, daughter of the late Oscar and Florence (Maxvill) Leighty, was born November 20, 1934, in Huggins, Missouri, and departed this life January 8, 2018, at her home in Mountain Grove, Missouri. She was 83 years, 1 month, and 19 days of age.
Iretta was saved at an early age and attended the Number One Free Will Baptist Church and was a member of Cornerstone Free Will Baptist Church at the time of her passing. Growing up, Iretta and her brother, Dale, would walk to the Crewse Store to play with Billie Jo and Dean Crewse. Great times were had by all. Billie Jo would remind Iretta often of all the fun times they shared together growing up.
On December 17, 1955, Iretta was united in marriage to the love of her life, Ronnie Dugger. It was like a Spring day. They recently had celebrated 62 years of marriage. To this union they were blessed with the birth of their son, Roger.
In January of 1974, Iretta went to work for Wal-Mart. She worked there for 21 years. After retiring, she and Ronnie went fishing, took in auctions, and loved going to flea markets. After enjoying a few years of retirement she was diagnosed with cancer. She never complained about her illness. God provided a miracle and she became an 18 year cancer survivor. Six years ago, Iretta suffered a stroke which limited her ability of going anywhere.
Iretta always had a pleasant smile. She loved watching the birds, The Andy Griffith Show, Little House On The Prairie, The Price Is Right, and Wheel of Fortune. Recently, as her health declined, Iretta asked to get to stay at home. Her husband and son were able to grant that wish.
Besides her parents, Iretta was preceded in death by her brother, Dale Leighty.
Survivors include her loving husband, Ronnie Dugger, her son, Roger Dugger, both of the home, one sister, Fern Hurt of Carthage, Missouri, one brother-in-law, Bob Dugger of Hartville, Missouri, two sisters-in-law, Agnes Leighty of Marshfield, Missouri and Virginia West of Mountain Grove, as well as many friends and family. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
