Henry Edward Eckert

Henry Edward Eckert, son of the late Bernard and Mary (Kruse) Eckert, was born on December 15, 1934 in St. Louis County, Missouri and departed this life on Saturday, September 18, 2010 in Ocie, Missouri, following a sudden illness. He was 75 years, 9 months and 3 days of age.

Henry grew up in St. Louis County and was united in marriage to Vivien McCollum on October 13, 1956. Two daughters, Barbara and Claudette, were born to this union. He served his country in the United States Army and was honorably discharged on May 1, 1963. Henry and Vivien moved their family to a farm in Graff, Missouri in 1971.

Henry enjoyed being outdoors, tending to his farm, camping, fishing and working at the Wedgewood Country Club.

He was a loving and caring husband, father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather, friend and neighbor. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, whom he loved very much. He will be truly missed by those who knew and loved him.

He was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Mtn. Grove, Missouri.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers: Bernard Albert Eckert and Joseph Eckert.

He is survived by his loving wife: Vivien Eckert of their home; his daughters: Barbara Wade of Graff, Missouri, and Claudette Oaks and her husband, David, of Cabool, Missouri; a sister: Maryann Wedel and her husband, Al, of St. Charles, Missouri; five grandchildren: Betsy Sandbothe, Amy Morgan, John Wade, Mary Dowden and Elizabeth Williams; six great-grandchildren: Xaiver Pike, Danielle Morgan, Brian Morgan, Scott Wade, Chasten Wade, and Hannah Dowden; other relatives and friends.
