Hazel Laverne (Farr) Dodson

June 6, 1944 — January 26, 2013

Hazel Laverne Dodson, daughter of the late Floyd and Etta (Lawson) Farr, was born on June 6, 1944 in Wright County, Missouri, and departed this life on January 26, 2013 at her daughter’s residence in Chapmansboro, Tennessee, at 68 years of age.
Hazel grew up in Wright County and graduated from Norwood High School. She was united in marriage to Harold Lee Dodson on February 7, 1963. Seven children were born to this union. They made their home in Norwood where they raised their children. Harold passed away on July 14, 2012.
Hazel loved the outdoors, especially when it came to fishing. She also looked forward to taking care of her vegetable gardens each year. She enjoyed embroidery, quilting and making dog bone pillows. She had made over 500 that she donated and gave as gifts.
Hazel was a very friendly lady with a quick wit and good sense of humor. She enjoyed taking walks around Norwood and stopping to chat with those around her. She never met a stranger and always had kind words to say.
Hazel looked forward to spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She loved children and her heart would go out to those who were less fortunate than herself. She wanted to extend a helping hand and encourage whoever needed a kind word.
Besides her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers: Jerry Farr, Bill Farr, and Wilbur Farr; and by one sister: Carolyn Farr.
She is survived by four sons: Harold Lynn Dodson of Hartville, Missouri, Randy Dodson of Macomb, Missouri, Gary Dodson and his wife, Tammy, of Springfield, Missouri, and William Dodson of Norwood, Missouri; three daughters: Robin Bailey of Holiday, Florida, Pamela Smith and her husband, Troy, of Chapmansboro, Tennessee, and Tammy Hibdon and her husband, Colin, of Tipton, Missouri; two brothers: Robert Farr and his wife, Adele, and Kenneth Farr, all of Springfield, Missouri; three sisters: Mary Owen and Geraldean Taber, both of Springfield, Missouri, and Louise Blakely of Phoenix, Arizona; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends who will miss her very much.
