Hazel Lee McCay, daughter of the late Gus E. and Vera E. (McElroy) Harding, was born on August 6, 1914 in Adar, Texas, and departed this life on Sunday, February 18, 2007 in Beaver, Oklahoma. She had battled with Pulmonary Fibrosis since 1999. She was 92 years, 6 months, and 10 days of age. Hazel grew up in Adar, Texas. In her teenage years, her family relocated to Phoenix, Arizona where she met and married Dennis Woodrow McCay on May 14, 1949. One daughter was born to this union.
They lived on the family farm west of Beaver, Oklahoma after their marriage until 1953, and moved to Roosevelt, Arizona and then to Page, Arizona. In 1984 they retired to Mtn. Grove, Missouri. Following the death of her husband in 1988, she moved back to Beaver, Oklahoma in 1992.
In Beaver, she attended the First Baptist Church where she enjoyed the services and visiting with her friends. Hazel enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She liked to play Skipbo with her grandchildren and she also enjoyed making blankets for the Boys Ranch.
The last seven years she was a resident of the Beaver County Nursing Home.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law: Sandra and Bob Graham of Nixa, Missouri; her grandchildren: Trudi Brown and her husband, David of Beaver, Oklahoma, Melodie Barnett of Phoenix, Arizona, Amanda LaCross and her husband, Chris of Phoenix, Arizona; her great-grandchildren: Brittany, McCayla, Shelby, and Jess Brown of Beaver, Oklahoma, and Marissa and Micah Barnett of Phoenix, Arizona; and a host of other relatives and friends who will miss her very much.
