Hazel 'Jackie' Mcmahan

January 14, 1924 — October 2, 2011

Hazel “Jackie” G. McMahan, daughter of the late William and Erma (Smith) Mangan, was born on January 14, 1924 in Bismark, Missouri and departed this life on October 2, 2011 in the Autumn Oaks Caring Center in Mtn. Grove, Missouri, following a long illness. She was 87 years, 9 months and 18 days of age.

Hazel grew up and attended school in Bismark, Missouri and graduated from Bismark High School. She was united in marriage to Woody Eaton in California in 1943, while he was in flight school with the United States Army Air Corp. Three children were born to this union.

She had made her home in the Mtn. Grove area for many years.

Hazel enjoyed being outdoors, especially when tending to her flower and vegetable gardens. She also liked to crochet, do embroidery work, travel and collect antiques. In her spare time she enjoyed going to flea market to find a real bargain.

Hazel was a member of the Dawson Assembly of God Church north of Mtn. Grove. She enjoyed attending services as long as her health permitted.

Besides her parents and her first husband, she was preceded in death by one daughter: Ann Cantrell; two sisters: Francis Grider and Darlene Mercer; and by one grandson: Steven Cantrell.

She is survived by one son: Glen Eaton and his wife, Lavonda, of Mtn. Grove; one daughter: Judith Eaton of St. Charles, Missouri; nine grandchildren: Jerry Cantrell, Dwayne Cantrell, Greg Cantrell, Rick Cantrell, Cristy Follis, Dusty Szy, Nick Eaton, Garrett Eaton, Glen Eaton III, and Ryan Eaton; five great-grandchildren: Justin Cantrell, Katrina Prock, Kyle Follis, Ella Eaton, and Brandon Freeman; and a host of other relatives and friends who will sadly miss her.
