Harvey Edward Maki, son of the late Walter and Hannah (Niemi) Maki, was born on July 14, 1938 in Ironwood, Michigan, and departed this life on October 30, 2009 at his residence in Norwood, Missouri, following a long illness. He was 71 years, 3 months and 16 days of age.
Harvey grew up and attended school in Ironwood, Michigan. He served his country in the United States Navy.
He was united in marriage to Ruth Ann Borrie on June 30, 1962 in Ramsey, Michigan. They made their home in the Norwood, Missouri area since 2002. Ruth passed away on March 5, 2007.
Harvey was employed as a truck driver for several years and retired in 2000. He was an avid outdoorsman who especially enjoyed fishing, hunting, and gardening.
He was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather and friend. He will be truly missed by those who knew and loved him.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother: Rodney Maki; one sister: Faye Maki; and by a granddaughter: Skylar.
He is survived by his son: Clifford Maki of Denver, Colorado; his daughter: Faye Maki of Norwood, Missouri; one sister: Carolyn Perenski of Tucson, Arizona; six grandchildren: Cooper, Christopher, Michelle, Marley, Nichole, and Michael; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Memorial Service:
Monday, October 2, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
Burial:
At a later date in Thomas Cemetery, Norwood, MO.
