Harry C. Bales, age 94, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family on January 23, 2020. He was born January 2, 1926, in Richmond, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his mother, Bessie Mae Bales, his brother, Jack Junior Bales, and grandson, Darin K. Amos. He leaves behind his wife of over 75 years, Janice Bales, daughters, Rose Cobb and Cecelia Driver, and son, David Bales, grandchildren, Erin Early, Scott Whitesell, Mark Whitesell, Janet Bales, Paula Bales, and great-grandson, Russell Early.
He enlisted in the Army Air Corp in 1944 and served in World War II as a gunner on a B24 aircraft. He re-enlisted in the United States Air Force, serving a thirty year career and retired as a Chief Warrant Officer 4. He also participated in the Masonic organizations, The order of the Eastern Star, Masonic Lodge, and Scottish Rite, reaching 32nd degree.
He had been a resident of Cabool, Missouri, since 1974. He actively farmed and was a member of the Free Will Baptist Church. He chaired the Republican party of his district.
