Harold Eugene Mccallister

August 21, 1928 — April 10, 2008

Harold Eugene McCallister, son of the late Earl and Lois (Woods) McCallister, was born on August 21, 1928 in Wright County, Missouri, and departed this life on April 10, 2008 in the Autumn Oaks Caring Center in Mtn. Grove, Missouri, following a long illness. He was 79 years, 7 months, and 20 days of age.
Harold grew up in Wright County and served his country in the United States Army for seven years. He entered the service in 1946 and was honorably discharged in 1953. He served all seven years in Germany.
He was united in marriage to Corrine Coble in April of 1955. Two children were born to this union: Kirk and Eugenia.
He later married Mary (Lathrom) Coffman on May 13, 1969 in Eminence, Missouri. Harold was a truck driver for several years. He enjoyed being outdoors, especially when camping and rabbit hunting. He also liked going to Bluegrass festivals.
Harold was a kind and loving father, husband, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. He enjoyed spending time with his family and his Yorkshire terrier, “Bo.”
He was saved while being a resident at the Autumn Oaks Caring Center.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister: Evelyn.
He is survived by his loving wife: Mary McCallister of their home in Mtn. Grove; one son: Kirk McCallister of Mtn. Grove, Missouri; one daughter: Eugenia McClure of Benton, Arkansas; one step-son: Kevin Coffman of Mtn. Grove, Missouri; two brothers: Wilbert “Mac” McCallister of Shell City, Missouri and Lonnie McCallister of Mtn. Grove; three sisters: Neva Kelley of Whittier, California, Leta Graham of Nampa, Idaho, and Arlene Symon of Memphis, Tennessee; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends who will miss him very much.
Graveside memorial services for Harold McCallister were held Tuesday, April 15, 10:00 AM in the Lone Star Cemetery with Rev. Jerry Ratterree officiating. Jerry and Irene Ratterree sang “Amazing Grace,” and “Far Side Banks Of Jordan.” Pallbbearers were Rick Williams, Orville Robertson - & Willard McCarty. Full military honors were provided by the American Legion Post 30 and The Lima Team Burial Detail with Jared Moore serving as bugler. Burial was in the Lone Star Cemetery under the direction of the Craig-Hurtt Funeral Home, Mtn. Grove, Missouri.
