Harold Dean Kingsland

July 24, 1935 — August 22, 2020

Harold Dean Kingsland, son of the late Alfred Powell Kingsland and Jessie Mae Jones, was born July 24, 1935, in Gooding, Idaho, and passed away August 22, 2020, at his residence in Mountain Grove, Missouri, with family by his side. He was 85 years and 29 days of age.

Harold married Alice Marie Snavely on October 11, 1964, in Mountain Grove, Missouri. They moved to Long Beach, California, where he was stationed in the Navy. While in the Navy they lived in many places including, Vallejo, California, Whidbey Island, Washington, Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, and Great Lakes, Illinois. Harold retired from the Navy on August 30, 1976, after serving his country for 21 years, with 17 of those years being sea duty. He was a Machinist Mate Senior Chief. Following his retirement in 1976 they made their home in Mountain Grove, Missouri. He worked as a trash truck driver for the city of Mountain Grove and retired from there after working for them for several years.

Harold enjoyed golfing, fishing, playing pool, and spending time with family and friends.

Harold was saved as a young boy. He was a member of the Waukegan Baptist Church in Waukegan, Illinois, and was baptized at Ewa Beach Baptist Church in Hawaii.

Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Alice Kingsland, two sons, Iris Joe Kelley and Max Kelley, one older brother, Alfred Kingsland, two brothers-in-law, Walter “Ervin” Sowers and Bill Calhoun.

Harold is survived by one son, Dean Kingsland and his wife, Kimberly, of Centerton, Arkansas, one daughter, Zelta (Kingsland) Miller of Temecula, California, one daughter-in-law, Glinda Kelley of Norwood, Missouri, two sisters, Marjorie Sowers and Donna Calhoun, both of Mansfield, Missouri, four grandchildren, Francis Kelley and his wife, Jennifer, of Rogersville, Missouri, Mitzi Campbell and her husband, Brandan, of Norwood, Missouri, Jacob Kelley and his wife, Amanda, of Granby, Missouri, and Micah Kingsland of Centerton, Arkansas, eight great-grandchildren, Benjamin, Melody, Megan, and Maddie Campbell, Connor and Blake Kelley, Isaac Kelley, Emmalee Clift, and many other relatives and friends.

“Gramps” will be greatly missed by family and friends.
