Glenda Genevieve Thomas, daughter of the late Earl Robinson and Alsia Walker Carter, was born on August 21, 1926 in Tarkio, Missouri and departed this life on Sunday, May 2, 2010 in the St. John’s Regional Health Center in Springfield, Missouri, following an extended illness. She was 83 years, 8 months and 10 days of age.
Glenda grew up and attended school in different areas. She was united in marriage to Lester James Thomas on September 11, 1948 in Ava, Missouri. Five children were born to this union. They raised their family on a farm south of Norwood, Missouri in the Oak Forest Community, where they lived until their health started failing. They then made their home in Webco Manor in Marshfield, Missouri. Mr. Thomas passed away on October 18, 2006.
Glenda was employed by Tobin-Hamilton Shoe Factory in Mansfield, Missouri for over thirty years.
She enjoyed being outdoors, tending to her garden, spending time doing farm duties, feeding and watching the birds, and spending time with her dog. She also liked to cook and later in life she enjoyed watching movies in her spare time.
She was saved and baptized at the age of twenty-eight and was a long time member of the Oak Forest Church in Douglas County, Missouri.
Besides her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her four sons: James Ronald Thomas, Lexie Joe Thomas, Randell Lee Thomas and Dwayne Thomas.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law: Carol and Allen Greenfield of Strafford, Missouri; one brother: Rusty Carter of Springfield, Missouri; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a host of neighbors, friends and relatives who will miss her very much.

Thursday, May 6, 2:00 PM in the Craig-Hurtt Chapel.
Visitation:
Thursday, May 6, 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM before the service in the funeral home.
