Glen Ussery

March 15, 1943 — June 3, 2022

Glen Emerson Ussery, son of the late Othel and Elizabeth (Richardson) Ussery, was born March 15, 1943, in Carmel, California. He passed away June 3, 2022, at his home in Mountain Grove, Missouri, with his family by his side. He was 79 years of age.

Glen was raised in Norwood, Missouri, with his siblings, Eugene Ussery and Carl Ussery. Glen graduated from Norwood High School in 1960. He was united in marriage to Linda Saladin January 7, 1962, at Oak Grove Free Will Baptist Church. There were five children born to this union: Lindal, Clinton, Andrew, Yvonne, and Connie.

Glen was baptized at the Whetstone creek in 1954. He was a dairy farmer for several years and also drove a milk truck, and managed a gas station. His favorite job was working at the Norwood School as a bus driver, scorekeeper, and office staff. In his free time he would coach softball, attend any sporting event the Norwood Pirates would play, watch or listen to the St. Louis Cardinals baseball games, and if there were not any sporting events to attend you could find him on the golf course. After he retired, Glen still stayed very busy attending games, golfing, doing Meals on Wheels, volunteering at the Senior Center and even found time to run ten half marathons with his daughter, Connie.

Glen was preceded in death by his father, Othel Ussery, his mother, Elizabeth Ussery, his wife, Linda Ussery, his infant daughter, Yvonne Ussery, his three sons, Lindal, Clinton, and Andrew Ussery, and his brother, Carl Ussery.

Glen is survived by his brother, Eugene Ussery and wife, Joyce, of Norwood, Missouri, his daughter, Connie (Ussery) Schumacher and husband, Jason, of Dittmer, Missouri. Along with his grandchildren, Chris Ussery, Andy Ussery, Sara (Ussery) Hendley, Tiffani (Ussery) Hendley, Justin Ussery, Clinton Ussery, Cheynne Ussery, Glendon Ussery, Trenton Schumacher, Shaundel Schumacher, MacKenzie Schumacher, he was blessed with fifteen great-grandchildren, five nephews, one niece, and many other relatives and friends who will miss him dearly.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested memorial contributions be made to the Glen Ussery Memorial Scholarship in the care of the funeral home.
