Glen Laverne Blacksher

October 30, 1923 — August 23, 2007

Glen Laverne Blacksher, son of the late William and Nina (Haliburton) Blacksher, was born on October 30, 1923 in Mtn. Grove, Missouri, and passed away on August 23, 2007 in the Cox Medical Center South in Springfield, Missouri, following a long illness. He was 83 years, 9 months, and 23 days of age.
Glen grew up and attended school in Mtn. Grove. He was united in marriage to Bernice Lillian Wallace on February 5, 1940 in California. Five children were born to this union. They lived in the Mtn. Grove area for several years and at the time of his passing he was a resident of the Maranatha Gardens in Springfield, Missouri.
Glen had many hobbies throughout his life. He worked in retail sales for many years in the Mtn. Grove Community and was a born again Christian who looked forward to seeing his Heavenly Father and beloved wife, Bernice, whom he missed dearly.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend. He was a good provider for his family until his passing. He was also loved by the community because of his love of people and conversations of the world. Glen and Bernice were long time members of the South Street Church of God where they enjoyed attending as long as their health permitted. Glen was a Sunday School Superintendent for the church for many years.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife: Bernice Lillian Blacksher on May 20, 2006; a daughter: Trena Jean; and by an infant daughter: Glenda Ann.
He is survived by two sons: Rex Blacksher and his wife, Dona and Bruce Blacksher; one daughter: Vicki Rambo and her husband, Stanley; one brother: Jay Blacksher and his wife, Phyllis; six sisters: Sherry Smith and her husband, Bob, Jerry Caudle and her husband, Carroll, Faye Combs and her husband, Raymond, Zella Hicks and her husband, Martin, Virginia Robertson and her husband, Orville and Roberta Fletcher; fourteen grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends who will miss him very much.
