Geraldine 'Gerry' (Harper) Wright

Geraldine “Gerry” Wright, daughter of the late Curtis W. and Emma (Simpson) Harper, was born on January 30, 1919 in Milan, Kansas, and departed this life on July 6, 2013 at her residence in Mtn. Grove, Missouri, at 94 years of age.
Gerry grew up and attended school in Milan, Kansas and graduated from Milan High School. She was united in marriage to Foster Wright on September 17, 1941 in Hutcheson, Kansas. Two children were born to this union.
Foster and Gerry made their home in Kansas, Oklahoma, and moved to the Mtn. Grove, Missouri area where they enjoyed their retirement.
Foster passed away on January 9, 2006.
Gerry worked for Cargill’s Clothing for many years, which later became Jerry’s Menswear.
She enjoyed sewing, canning, painting, reading, and taking care of her flowers.
Gerry was a longtime member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Mtn. Grove. She loved her church and church family, and was very involved in the United Methodist Women’s group.
Gerry was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, friend and neighbor. She will be truly missed by those who knew and loved her.
Besides her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law: Lary and Erica Wright of Fort Meyers, Florida; her daughter and son-in-law: Gala and Charlie Blackwell of Mtn. Grove, Missouri; three grandchildren: Chris Blackwell and his wife, Jolanda, and Justin Blackwell, both of Mtn. Grove, and Tiffany Bonen and her husband, Mike, of Columbia, Missouri; two great-grandchildren: Austin and Samantha Bonen; and other relatives and friends.
The family would like to thank Three Rivers Hospice for their compassion and care of Gerry through this difficult time.
