Georgie H. Talbert moved to Heaven on January 23, 2008 to be with her loving Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ at 84 years of age. She was born on January 1, 1924 in Chicago, Illinois to Harry and Jenny (Bero) Burke.
At a young age her family moved to Saginaw, Michigan, where she grew up and later married James Talbert. Together they raised four children in Bay City, Michigan. Besides being a loving mother and wife, Georgie worked as a full time secretary for Hirschfield and Sons.
After the children were grown, she was able to fulfill a life long dream of moving west, settling in Las Vegas, Nevada. She soon went to work for Jim Wilson at Wilson’s Antenna, and though semi-retired she lived a very active life making friends wherever she went.
Georgie retired full time and moved to Mtn. Grove, Missouri to live closer to her immediate family. She was very active in her church and became known to the young and old alike as “Momma Georgie.” She lovingly embraced everyone freely sharing God’s love. As church secretary/treasurer, she was a vital church member who was faithful to pray and witness at every opportunity. Her age knew no boundaries, her wit was quick and fresh and a joy to us all.
Georgie had always aspired to be a writer. She fulfilled her aspiration by writing church articles that appeared weekly in the Mtn. Grove News Journal. Her articles were an anointed outreach to the local community and will be missed by all who read them. Besides her parents, “Momma Georgie” was preceded in death by her former husband: Jim Talbert; and by four sisters: Cecilia Burke, Kathleen LaBeau; Luella Wood, and Olga Skidmore.
She is survived by her four children: Allison Garcia, Charles Talbert and his wife, Candy, Judy Talbert, and Jamie Jones; twelve grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and a host of family and friend too numerous to mention. We love you “Momma Georgie” and look forward to that glad reunion day! www.craighurttfuneralhome.com
