George Marion Smith, son of the late Henson “Rose” and Eva “Toots” (Gasperson) Smith was born in Mountain Grove, Missouri on March 18, 1933 and passed to heaven on August 18, 2012 at his residence in Vanzant, Missouri. He was 79 years old.
George spent most of his young life in Douglas County, Missouri. He attended school at Vanzant, Stoney Point, and Mountain Grove, Missouri. He married Hazel Kelley in 1952 and to this union were born four sons, David, Danny, Calvin and Morgan. During those years, they resided in California.
Following the end of his first marriage, he later met Joycelynn Curtis in Salina, Utah and they were married on May 12, 1969 in Las Vegas, Nevada. From this union, George was blessed with another son, Russell. They spent their lives in the states on Missouri, Texas and Utah. Later they returned back to Missouri in 1989 where he spent the remainder of his life.
George had spent most of his life as a truck driver and farmer. He was baptized at an early age in Douglas County, Missouri and was later re-baptized in California.
George was surrounded by his family at the time of his passing. His wife Joyce, their sons, and extended family had provided his bedside care so he could spend his final days in the comfort of his home.
Many stories and laughs were shared and George was eternally grateful for their company. He never lost his sense of humor. He will be dearly missed.
George is survived by his loving wife of the home: Joyce; his sons: Danny, and his wife Diann Smith, of Vanzant, Missouri, Morgan Smith also of Vanzant, Missouri, and Russell, and his wife, DeAnna Smith, of Mountain Grove, Missouri; and a brother, Donal, and his wife, Genevie of Vanzant, Missouri. He is survived by eleven grandchildren: Justin Smith, Tabatha Hurt, Crystal Steinbeisser, Melissa Smith, Rose Lenerville, Rebecca Smith, Quintin Smith, Aurora Smith, Shannon Casillas, Reannon Hicks, and Cheyenne Ruiz. He is also survived by sixteen great-grandchildren: Evan, Ian, Owen, Savannah, Sierrah, Adrian, Jorgia, Kaie, Kyra, Kane, Lane, Bethany, Faith, Savannah, Tristan, and Chloe; along with several nieces and nephews and a host of many friends and relatives.
