Geneva Fern Arnold, daughter of the late Miller and Opal (Yates) Collins, was born on April 8, 1937 in Twin Bridges, Missouri and departed this life on February 6, 2009 in Springfield, Missouri, following a short illness. She was 71 years, 9 months, and 28 days of age.
Geneva grew up and attended school in the Twin Bridges, Macomb, and Mansfield communities. Following school she worked at Tobin Hamilton Shoe Company in Mansfield. She was united in marriage to Charles Burnett in May of 1959. Two children were born to this union. They moved to Kansas City, Missouri, where Geneva worked as a seamstress. Following Mr. Burnett’s passing, in May of 1975, Geneva moved back to the Mansfield area. Geneva was employed with Evangel College from 1988 to 1998 as a housekeeper.
Geneva was saved at a young age and attended the Assemblies of God her entire life.
She enjoyed spending time with her family. She also enjoyed baking, gardening, sewing, and quilting.
Besides her parents and husband she was preceded in death by two brothers: Donald Collins and James Collins.
Geneva is survived by one son: Mike Burnett of Springfield, Missouri; one daughter: Kristy Ijames and husband, Jeff, of Mtn. Grove, Missouri; three sisters: Genora Gleason and husband, Bill, of Macomb, Missouri, Willie Forrest and husband, Ronnie, of Mtn. Grove, Missouri, and Betty Brooke and husband, Thurman, of Mansfield, Missouri; two grandchildren: Megan Smith and husband, David, and Bailey Burnett; three great-grandchildren: Ian Smith, Tristan Burnett, and Brady Burnett; many other relatives and friends who will miss her dearly.
