Gary Fay Hurt

Gary Fay Hurt, son of Ray Alvin and Frances (Bradshaw) Hurt, was born on January 7, 1954 in Bryan, Ohio and passed away suddenly on Sunday, September 21, 2008 in the St. John’s Regional Health Center in Springfield, Missouri. He was 54 years, 8 months and 14 days of age.
Gary grew up in Missouri and graduated from Norwood High School in the Class of 1971.
He was employed by Forrest Meat Processing in Norwood for a few years and continued to help out during their busy seasons. He worked as a carpenter in new home construction, where he enjoyed his work very much and made many friends over the years.
He was an avid outdoorsman, especially when fishing and hunting. He also liked horses and playing music with his many friends.
Gary was united in marriage to Robin McQueen on February 14, 2005 in Arkansas. They made their home in Douglas County where they enjoyed the country life.
He loved his family very much and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and taking care of his family.
He was preceded in death by his father: Ray Hurt on May 26, 2007; and by one brother: Clarence Hurt.
He is survived by his loving wife: Robin (McQueen) Hurt of their home; his mother: Frances (Bradshaw) Hurt of Mtn. Grove; one son: Jim Hurt and his wife, Tabby (Smith), of Vanzant; one daughter: Lisa (Hurt) Watson and her husband, Chad, of Mtn. Grove; a step-daughter: Jolene Kidwell and her husband, Scott, of Cabool, Missouri; one sister: Brenda Day of Hartville, Missouri; seven grandchildren: Evan Hurt, Ian Hurt, Owen Hurt, Riley Vaughan, Kacey Watson, Kelsey Watson, and Addy Watson; and a host of other relatives and friends who will sadly miss him.
Memorial Services for Gary Hurt were held Friday evening, September 26th at 6:00 p.m. in the Craig-Hurtt Funeral Home with Rick Forrest officiating. Tim Bruffet accompanied himself on the guitar. Song selections were “Where The Soul Never Dies” and “I’ll Fly Away”. The service concluded with visitation.
