Garry Lee Forbes

Garry Lee Forbes, son of Ted Lewis and Pauline (Schrader) Forbes, was born on May 11, 1949 in Waterloo, Iowa, and passed away on April 21, 2009 in the Cox Medical Center South in Springfield, Missouri. He was 59 years, 11 months and 10 days of age.
Garry grew up in the Waterloo area until he was a junior in high school. His family moved to the Mansfield, Missouri area and he graduated from Hartville High School in 1968. He was united in marriage to Joanne Harris in 1968 and four sons were born to this union.
Garry was a truck driver all his life and a dairy farmer for a few years. He married Mary (Williams) Craig on May 6 1988 in Mansfield. They owned and operated the Burger Shack in Mtn. Grove for two years. They had made their home in Mtn. Grove for the past twenty-one years.
Garry was an avid outdoorsman, especially when hunting, fishing and tending to his farm. He also liked to do woodworking in his spare time.
He was a loving and caring son, husband, father, grandfather, brother nephew, uncle, cousin and friend. He especially enjoyed the time he spent with his grandchildren. He will be truly missed by those who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by two sons: Tony Forbes and Ross Forbes; and by a granddaughter: MaRanda Kaylene Forbes.
He is survived by his wife: Mary Forbes of their home; two sons: Roger Forbes of Seymour, Missouri and Randy Forbes and his wife, Amanda, of Conway, Missouri; one step-son: Mark Craig and his wife, Margaret, of Arvada, Colorado; his parents: Ted and Pauline Forbes of Mtn. Grove; two brothers: Craig Forbes and his wife, Sandi, of Buffalo, Missouri and Mark Forbes and his wife, Mary, of Mtn. Grove; three sisters: Paula Sterling and her husband, Bernie, of Fair Play, Missouri, Loreen Riddle and her husband, Hank, of Springfield, Missouri, and Ann Edwards and Rich Engle of Traer, Iowa; seven grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.


Funeral Services:
Saturday, April 25, 10:00 AM in the Trinity United Methodist Church in Mtn. Grove.
Visitation:

Friday, April 24thy, 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM in the Craig-Hurtt Chapel.
Burial:
Mansfield City Cemetery, Mansfield, Missouri
Donations:
Trinity United Methodist Church c/o the funeral home.
