Jeannie (Jarrett) Postlewaite was born March 16, 1937 in Mountain Grove, MO to Frank and Veora (Goode) Jarrett. Jeannie was raised by her mother Veora and step-father, Ethmer Massey.
She married her high school sweetheart, Dean Postlewaite on February 5, 1955 in Los Angeles, CA. Dean says that he could have searched the world over and never found a more perfect wife and mother. Together they had three daughters, Jeannie Marie, Cheryl Lea and Elaine Deanice. At the time of her passing, Jeannie had 11 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren with two on the way.
Jeannie was saved in 1955 and baptized by her father-in-law, J.J. Postlewaite.
Through the years, her family was her pride and joy. When she wasn't attending a sporting event proudly wearing her Panther gear cheering on one of those grandkids, she was at home sewing a dress for a special occasion or working on a project for a sentimental Christmas present. She loved to take photos of all of those special kids which often ended up in one of her projects. Jeannie loved her beautiful flowers, watching her birds, and growing a gorgeous garden.
Before retirement granted her the time she loved to spend on all of those kids and projects, Jeannie spent 33 years as a teacher, administrator, and supporter in the Mountain Grove school district. She was a graduate of Southwest Missouri State University, earning her B.S. in Education in 1969, her Masters in Administration in 1977 and her Specialist degree in 1984. She held education, at every level, in high regard and it was always a passion which she passed on to her children.
In the days since her passing, many people have called Jeannie an amazing woman and someone that touched so many lives. She would have been humbled by those words, but we all know they are true. She was known for her unconditional acceptance of all people, no matter the issue, she chose to see the positive in others.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Veora Massey; her step-father, Ethmer Massey; her brothers, Bob Jarrett and Jim Kiser; and her daughter Cheryl (Postlewaite) Todd.
