Faye Ellis-Painter

December 19, 1924 — October 21, 2016

Faye Ruth Ellis-Painter, daughter of the late William and Della (Smart) Volner, was born on December 19, 1924, and departed this life on October 21, 2016 at her home, north of Mountain Grove, Missouri, at Green Mountain. She was 91 years, 10 months, and 2 days of age.


Faye was born in Fowler, Missouri, and was raised in both the southern Missouri and Arkansas areas. She was one of eleven children. Faye was united in marriage to John Ellis on February 25, 1941 in Hartville, Missouri. Six children were born to this union: Mack, Bonnie, Carl, Linda, LeVon, and Janette. She later married Wilbert Painter on June 27, 2002.



Faye spent her entire life as a homemaker, and loved caring for her family. She always helped out on the farm, and spent a lot of time volunteering and helping with fundraisers. She loved to take care of her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and anybody who needed her. She took great pride in being able to help anyone that needed it.



Faye loved the Lord, and enjoyed listening to gospel and bluegrass music. She especially enjoyed cooking and making pies, and also gardening and canning.

Besides her parents, Faye was preceded in death by her first husband: John Ellis in 2000; and by her second husband: Wilbert Painter in 2011; two sons: Mack Ellis and Carl Ellis; two daughters: Bonnie Curtis and Janette Buttram; one stillborn child; five brothers: Alfred, Harvey, Hervey, Orville, and Jim Volner; and five sisters: Oma, Emma, Cora, Anna Bell, and Opal.


She is survived by one son: LeVon Ellis of Mountain Grove; one daughter: Linda Curtis of St. James, Missouri; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; and many other extended family and friends who will greatly miss her.


Visitation: Monday, October 24, 2016 from 6:00 - 8:00 PM in the Chapel.

Funeral Service: Tuesday, October 25, 2016 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel.

Burial: Green Mountain Cemetery.

Memorial Contributions: Wright County Children's Home c/o the funeral home.
